Uses

Daktarin 20mg/G is used for:

• Oral thrush (Candida infection of the mouth and throat)
• Fungal infections of the gut, as decided by the doctor

Dosage

Adults and children over 2: 2.5 ml (half a measuring spoon) four times daily after meals. Infants 4–24 months: 1.25 ml four times daily, applied in small amounts. Continue for at least a week after symptoms clear.

How to Use

Apply the gel to the affected area of the mouth with a clean finger and keep it in the mouth as long as possible before swallowing. For infants, divide the dose into small portions and smear it inside the mouth – never put the gel at the back of the throat.

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose when you remember. If the next dose is due soon, skip the missed one. Do not take a double dose.

Overdose

Too much may cause vomiting or diarrhoea. Contact a doctor.

When Not to Use

• Babies under 4 months, or older babies whose swallowing reflex is not fully developed (risk of choking)
• Liver problems
• Taking warfarin, some statins (simvastatin, lovastatin) or certain heart medicines
• Allergy to miconazole
