Uses

Arceva-Ds 15/90mg is used for:

• Uncomplicated malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum, including mixed infections
• Malaria in adults and children over 5 kg

Dosage

The standard course is 6 doses over 3 days, given at 0, 8, 24, 36, 48 and 60 hours. Doses for children are based on age and body weight – give exactly the amount in ml prescribed by your doctor or shown on the label.

How to Use

Take each dose with food or a milky drink, as fat is needed for absorption. Shake the suspension well. If vomiting occurs within 1 hour, repeat the dose.

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose as soon as possible and continue the schedule. Complete all 6 doses.

Overdose

If you take too much, contact your doctor or go to the nearest hospital emergency department straight away.

When Not to Use

• Severe or complicated malaria (needs hospital treatment)
• Heart rhythm problems such as QT prolongation, or a family history of sudden death
• Low potassium or magnesium
