Dosage

This is an extended-release (XR) tablet taken once daily. For schizophrenia and bipolar mania, a common schedule is 300 mg on day 1 and 600 mg on day 2, then 400–800 mg daily. For bipolar depression the dose rises from 50 mg on day 1 to 300 mg by day 4. As an add-on in depression, 50–150 mg daily is used. The dose is increased step by step over several days, and the right dose depends on the condition. Older adults and people with liver problems usually need lower doses.

How to Use

Swallow the extended-release tablet whole once a day in the evening, without food or with a light meal. Do not crush, chew or split it.

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose when you remember. If the next dose is due soon, skip the missed one. Do not take a double dose.
