Description

Description

Nib 2.5mg contains nebivolol, a selective beta-blocker used in the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension). It works by slowing the heart rate and reducing the force of each heartbeat, which lowers the amount of work the heart has to do and helps bring blood pressure down to a healthier range. This lower starting dose is commonly used when beginning treatment, allowing your doctor to assess how your body responds before considering a dose increase.

Ingredients

Each tablet contains Nebivolol 2.5mg as the active ingredient (equivalent to nebivolol hydrochloride). Inactive ingredients typically include lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, and magnesium stearate, though this can vary by batch. Patients with lactose intolerance should check the printed leaflet or consult their pharmacist.

Dosage Form

Supplied as an oral tablet, packaged in a simple blister strip. Each pack contains 14 tablets, generally supporting a two-week supply at standard once-daily dosing.

Uses

Used for the management of high blood pressure, either alone or in combination with other blood pressure medicines. Nebivolol may also be used in some cases to manage certain types of heart failure, under close medical supervision and dose titration. Because beta-blockers work gradually, it may take a few weeks of consistent use before your doctor can fully assess how well this dose is controlling your blood pressure. Regular follow-up appointments help determine whether a dose adjustment is needed.

How to use

Take one tablet by mouth once daily, at a consistent time, with or without food. Swallow whole with water. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as remembered unless close to the next scheduled dose. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly, as abruptly discontinuing beta-blockers can cause a rebound increase in heart rate and blood pressure, and in some cases chest pain.

Side Effects

Common side effects include fatigue, dizziness, headache, and a slower than usual heart rate. Some patients experience cold hands or feet due to reduced circulation to the extremities. Less commonly, shortness of breath or mood changes can occur. Seek medical attention if you experience a very slow heart rate, fainting, or significant difficulty breathing. If fatigue or dizziness is significant when starting treatment, it often improves as your body adjusts over the first couple of weeks. Standing up slowly from sitting or lying positions can help reduce dizziness in the meantime.

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Beta-blockers like nebivolol are generally used during pregnancy only if clearly necessary, as they can affect fetal growth and heart rate, particularly later in pregnancy. Use during breastfeeding should be discussed with your doctor, as small amounts may pass into breast milk. Speak with your doctor about the safest option if pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding.

Storage Instructions

Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture. Keep in original blister packaging until use, and store out of reach of children.
