Description

Description

Nib 5mg contains nebivolol, a selective beta-blocker prescribed for high blood pressure, typically used once a patient has been established on the lower 2.5mg starting dose and requires a higher dose for adequate control. It works by slowing the heart rate and reducing the force of each heartbeat, easing the heart’s workload and lowering blood pressure over time.

Ingredients

Each tablet contains Nebivolol 5mg as the active ingredient (equivalent to nebivolol hydrochloride). Inactive ingredients typically include lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, and magnesium stearate, though this can vary by batch.

Dosage Form

Supplied as an oral tablet, packaged in a simple blister strip. Each pack contains 14 tablets, generally supporting a two-week supply at standard once-daily dosing.

Uses

Used for ongoing management of high blood pressure, typically as a standard maintenance dose once treatment has been established. May also be used in certain cases of heart failure under close medical supervision. Once established on this maintenance dose, most patients continue long-term treatment with periodic follow-up to confirm blood pressure remains well controlled and to monitor for any emerging side effects.

How to use

Take one tablet by mouth once daily, at a consistent time, with or without food. Swallow whole with water. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as remembered unless close to the next dose. Do not stop this medicine suddenly without medical guidance, as abrupt discontinuation can cause rebound increases in heart rate, blood pressure, or chest pain.

Side Effects

Common side effects include fatigue, dizziness, headache, and a slower than usual heart rate, generally similar in profile to the lower dose but sometimes more noticeable. Cold hands or feet, and occasionally shortness of breath or mood changes, can also occur. Seek medical attention for a very slow heart rate, fainting, or significant breathing difficulty. If you notice a resting heart rate that feels unusually slow, or experience fainting, contact your doctor, as this may indicate your dose needs adjustment.

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Beta-blockers are generally used during pregnancy only when clearly necessary, given potential effects on fetal growth and heart rate. Discuss breastfeeding safety with your doctor, as small amounts may transfer into breast milk. Speak with your doctor about the safest treatment option if pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding.

Storage Instructions

Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture. Keep in original blister packaging until use, and store out of reach of children. Keep an updated list of your current medications, including this one, to share with any healthcare provider, particularly in an emergency setting or when seeing a new specialist.

Disclaimer

Always use this medicine strictly according to your doctor’s instructions and prescribed dosage.
