Uses

Bismol 265mg is used for:

Dosage

Adults: 2 tablets every 30–60 minutes as needed, up to 8 doses (16 tablets) in 24 hours, for no more than 2 days unless advised.

Chew or dissolve the tablets in the mouth, or swallow with water.

Missed Dose

Take only when needed.

Overdose

Large amounts can cause salicylate poisoning – ringing in the ears, rapid breathing, confusion. Seek medical help.

When Not to Use

• Children and teenagers under 16 (salicylate – risk of Reye’s syndrome)
• Allergy to aspirin or salicylates
• Bleeding disorders or stomach ulcer
• Taking blood thinners

Common side effects may include:

• Black tongue or black stools (harmless)
• Constipation
• Nausea
