Most white discharge is normal. Here's how to spot an infection, which medicine treats it, and which myths to ignore.

The right medicine for likoria depends on the cause, because white discharge on its own is usually normal and needs no treatment. Abnormal discharge with itching and a thick, white, curd-like texture is usually thrush (a yeast infection), treated with clotrimazole vaginal tablets or cream. Thin, grey discharge with a fishy smell suggests bacterial vaginosis, and yellow or green frothy discharge suggests trichomoniasis; both need a doctor’s prescription, usually metronidazole. Normal discharge doesn’t cause weakness, back pain or weight loss.

Many women are told that white discharge drains the body, causing weakness, back pain, dark circles or weight loss. There is no medical evidence for this. Normal discharge keeps the vagina healthy. If you feel weak or tired, the real cause, such as anaemia, vitamin D deficiency or thyroid problems, is worth checking. See our iron deficiency guide. Expensive “likoria tonics” are not needed for normal discharge.
These need prescription antibiotics, usually metronidazole tablets or gel. For trichomoniasis, sexual partners must be treated too, or it comes back. Avoid alcohol during metronidazole treatment and for 48 hours afterwards.
Feminine washes such as Vagisaf are optional. If you use one, choose a mild, pH-balanced product for external use only, and stop if it irritates.

Safed pani (likoria) aksar normal hota hai aur iska koi ilaaj zaroori nahi. Yeh kamzori, kamar dard ya wazan kam hone ka sabab nahi banta. Hamal mein koi bhi dawai doctor se pooch kar lein.

It depends on the cause. Normal discharge needs no medicine. Thrush is treated with clotrimazole; bacterial vaginosis and trichomoniasis need prescription treatment such as metronidazole.
No. This is a common myth. If you feel weak or tired, get checked for anaemia, vitamin D deficiency or thyroid problems.
Insert one tablet high into the vagina at bedtime, using the applicator if provided, and follow the leaflet. Wash your hands before and after.
Vaginal clotrimazole is commonly used in pregnancy, but see your doctor first. Don’t take oral fluconazole while pregnant.
For normal discharge, good hygiene with plain water, cotton underwear and avoiding douching is enough. Infections need proper treatment.
